There will be a viewing on Thursday September 28th at Whispering Pines Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. A service will be held on Friday September 29th at 11:00 am at the Missionary Baptist Church with a graveside to follow after the service at Juniper Haven Cemetery.
Jean was born on December 22, 1920 in Mithcell to Jesse and Lillie (Blann) Maxwell. She graduated High School in Mitchell. Jean married Hilmer Jones on October 1, 1939 and the family later moved to Prineville where Hilmer worked as a carpenter and Jean as a store clerk.
She loved working in her yard, mowing, watering, planting flowers and growing raspberries, also making her families favorite jam, chocolate chip cookies and traditional pancake breakfast.
Jean was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and shared her love for Jesus Christ with children for 60 plus years. She loved her church and her family, she was blessed with the unique ability to forgive when others couldn’t, to be kind when others wouldn’t and caring when others didn’t. “A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Jean is survived by her two sons; Kurt (Cathy) Jones and Johnnie (Becky) Jones both of Prineville, five grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
