Ronald Settlemyer

Ron Settlemyer was born on September 22, 1936 to Frank & Lodema (Lytle) Settlemyer.   With deep roots in Central Oregon Ron had a perfect childhood, growing up in Bend in the 1950’s.

After graduating from Bend High in 1954, Ron went to work for the Forest Service manning lookouts.  He spent one year at COCC only to please his mother.  Ron then joined the US Navy in 1957 serving on Aircraft carrier the “U.S.S. Hornet”.

He spent the next 25 plus years working on the road for Jensen Byrd, selling hardware and making many friends.  With his family grown, Ron left the road and worked for Jim Prosser’s Coast to Coast and eventually moving to Powell Butte and working for the Mayfield’s Ochoco Hardware.

Ron was preceded in death by an infant sister, his mother Lodema and his father Frank. 

He is survived by his wife Ida, son Brad, daughter Amy (Dave) Lewis, step –sons; Joe (Kara) Becker, Mickey Becker, 12 grandchildren; Jacob, Cailin, Connor, Thomas, Josiah, Michaela, Kira, Elyah, Azariah, Petra, Hanna and Nehemiah.

Ron bravely fought his illness for nearly a year, having just celebrated his 80^th birthday.  He loved us all unconditionally.
