Vela Leru Adams, 87, of Prineville (formerly a long time resident of Prospect, Oregon) left the earthly phase of her eternal life at St. Charles Hospital in Prineville on February 5, 2018. There will be a memorial service at her beloved home in Prospect on her birthday, June 2nd at 1:00 pm.
Vela was born on June 2, 1930 to James and Hazel (Ragle) Wyatt in Green County, Arkansas. Vela moved to Bakersfield, California in 1945. She moved to Prospect in 1955 and there she raised her children. After working many years babysitting, cleaning houses and cabins at Union Creek, Vela worked for the Prospect school district for 25 years. After retirement, Vela made a quilt for each of her eight children, a labor of love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Vela is survived by her eight children: Linda Lou (Ralph) Goode, Carl Gene (Jennifer) Adams, Brenda Suzanne (Don) Harris, Carolyn Leru (David) Allred, Louis Edward (Gaye) Adams, Veneda Lynn (Ken) Bishop, Vernon Ray (Suzon) Adams, and Wendel Scottt Adams, 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, sisters; Betty Jane Gagnon of Madras, OR, Willadean Thompson of Salem, OR, and Sarah Francis Isola of Escondido, CA.
