Carl "Bud" Jorgensen Obituary

Carl R. (Bud)  Jorgensen was born May 14, 1931 in Rock Springs, Wyoming.  He passed away peacefully on December 23, 2019. He was the oldest child of Carl T.L. Jorgensen and Rachel Buckles Jorgensen. Bud and his sisters Margie and Nancy were raised at the family ranch in Pinedale, Wyoming. Bud rode a horse to school in Boulder and Cora then graduated from Pinedale at age 16.  He went to the University of Wyoming in Laramie for 2 years before moving back to the ranch in Pinedale.  Bud married Mary Caroline Brookshire on July 9, 1960 and together they raised their 5 children Julie, Nels, twins Carl & Carol and Scott at the ranch. When Bud was 3 years old he contracted polio but that never slowed him down, his Dad put him on a horse and kept him active. Bud was fearless on a horse and always rode one with a lot of spirit.  If he was ever bucked off he would just laugh, dust himself off and get back on.  Bud was a rider for the Upper Green River Cattlemen's Association for several years taking care of cattle on The Drift. Bud became a Mason in 1953 and was a member of the Royal Arch. He was Past Master in Pinedale and Grand High Priest for the State of Wyoming.  He and Mary Caroline were also members of the Eastern Star and he was Associate Bethel Guardian for Job's Daughters for several years as well.  He served on the Hospital Board in Pinedale.  He was also a sponsor with AA for many years.  Ranching was a huge part of his life and he loved all aspects of it.  They lived in Arizona for 5 years and he ran Bud's Taxi, then they moved to Prineville Oregon in 1999 to be closer to family. Bud lost his wife in 2008 after almost 48 years together. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughter Julie. He is survived by his son Nels and his wife Shannon of Klamath Falls, Oregon; daughter Carol Kammeyer and husband Dale of Prineville, Oregon; son Carl Jorgensen of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and son Scott Jorgensen of Greenville, South Carolina; his grandchildren Ryan (Jodi) Lee, Erin (Ryan) Dunn, Bowdie Ward and Kylee Jorgensen, Dan (Stephenie) Kammeyer; and six great grandchildren Tyler, Nyomi, Zayden, Karlee, Serenity and Cayson; and sisters Margie Thomas and Nancy Carter. Bud never met a stranger and spent his last years playing cards and visiting with people about his life spent cowboying at the ranch in Wyoming. We will miss his sweet smile and kind spirit. A celebration of life will be held in Pinedale, Wyoming at a later date.
