Dennis Charles Henry (Squirrel), 69, of Prineville passed away on Tuesday August 27, 2019. There will be a Memorial Reception held at Whispering Pines Funeral Home (3168 NE 3rd Street) on Saturday October 12, 2019 from 9 am – 12 pm with Military Honors Ceremony at 9:30 am. Dennis was born on July 15, 1950 in Grangeville, Idaho to Elmer L. and Betty Jean (Cross) Henry.
He was a military veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1972. Following his military service, he worked as a log truck driver for J.L. Goodell Trucking in Toledo, Oregon. He later worked for S.S. Flegel Trucking (Prineville), and then for Les Schwab Tires from which he retired in July of 2012.
Dennis married Laurie Kaps in 1971 and later divorcing in 2000.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Diana Henry.
He is survived by his children, Jason (Gina) Henry of Powell Butte, DJ Henry and Tina Henry, both of Prineville and Brittany (Kyler) Wafford of Toledo. He is also survived by his siblings, Don(Doris) Henry of Seattle, Washington, John (Marilyn) Smith of Toledo, Oregon and Marsha (Melvin) Barnhart of Cadillac, MI as well as numerous grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Dennis was often seen driving through town, flag flying, in “Old Green”, his 1957 GMC pickup. He had a contagious smile and a twinkle in his eyes. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family. He was selfless with his time and enjoyed helping others. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
