Donna Virginia (Taylor) Eggers

Donna Virginia (Pence/Stephens) Eggers, 84, of Prineville passed away on Monday December 23, 2019.  There will be a memorial service held at the Victory Baptist Church (1034 NE 11^th Street – Bend, Oregon 97701) at 1:00 PM Saturday February 8, 2020.  Pastor Richard Peil will be officiating.  To light a candle for Donna or to leave the family an on-line condolence, please go to www.whisperingpinesfuneralhome.com

She was born on February 5, 1935 to Hap and Virginia (Malloy) Taylor in Eugene, Oregon and grew up in the McKenzie River area outside of Eugene.  Donna and her family moved to Bend in 1950 where she attended school, graduating from Bend High Senior High School in 1953.  She then married Steve Pence and lived in various places before settling down in Prineville to raise their six children.  The couple later divorced and in 1978, she married Gary Stephens.  Donna and Gary were married for 25 years until his death in 2003.

Donna started out in retail as the owner of the Country Store with her husband, Steve.  She later managed the Empire Room Restaurant and continued working for many years in various jobs.  Donna loved working with the public.  She was always kind and friendly; and in return her customers loved her.

She enjoyed camping, going for rides in the Big Summit Prairie area, and most of all, she loved being near the ocean.  She could sit for hours looking at the water and watching the waves.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Hap and Virginia Taylor, her spouses Gary Stephens and Arnold Eggers; her daughter Cindy Pence; and her granddaughter Taylor Hatfield.

She is survived by her son, Steve (Kendra) Pence, her daughters; Kathy (Walt) Koenig, Chris (Kevin) Huff, Julie (Dave) Vaughan, Becky (Steve) Cherry, her brother Hap (Roxanne) Taylor Jr., her sister Mary (Larry) DeBoer.   She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Donna was a loving mother who treasured her family and was treasured by them.  She will be dearly missed, but it gives her family great comfort knowing she is in heaven.

A special thank you from her family to the staff at Cobblestone Inn for the loving care they gave Donna in her final years.  Also, thanks to Hospice for their support and care.
