Larry David Blanchard, 76, of Prineville passed away on Friday January 25, 2019 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. There will be a graveside service at Juniper Haven Cemetery (1555 N. Main Street) on Monday February 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM with a luncheon to follow at the Eagles Lodge & Club (235 NE 4th Street). Pastor Carl Blanchard will be officiating the service.
Larry was born on August 16, 1942 in Redmond, Oregon to David "Vern" Elmer and Jeanette Lee (Zimmerman) Blanchard. He joined the US Navy in January of 1960 and served his country on the USS Hancock CVA-19 until July of 1963. Larry married Shirley Anne Romane on September 27, 1963.
He worked at the Hudspeth Sawmill in Prineville until it shut down, then went to Pine Products for 10 years. He retired from Diesel Power Northwest in 2007.
Larry's hobbies included hunting, collecting Budweiser Steins, bargain hunting and he always loved helping people, especially his granddaughters. A lot of his family called him uncle Larry.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Wendy Jo Blanchard.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years; Shirley Anne Blanchard, his son; James Blanchard, his granddaughters; Amanda Mitchell and Amber Blanchard, a sister and a step-sister.
