Richard Bauer Jr. (Dick) passed from this life May 15, 2019 at his home in Prineville with his family near him. A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held on Thursday June 13, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Juniper Canyon Baptist Church (9180 SE Juniper Canyon Road) in Prineville. Dick was born on July 20, 1931 in Portland, Oregon to Richard Bauer Sr. and Edna Rose (Spady) Bauer. Dick was raised on dairy farm, then later raised hay and cattle in the Madras area. Dick drove long haul truck over the years and also spent several season’s commercial fishing in Bristol Bay, Alaska. Dick was a master tile setter until he retired, but was always there to help his kids and friends with home projects. After he retired, Dick enjoyed caring for his large garden, he always liked to grow his own food. Dick enjoyed fishing and cutting wood with his friends. Dick liked to spend time with his family and enjoyed a good family dinner. Dick, was a member of the Prineville Band of Brothers, and a lifetime member of the VFW post 1412.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Helen Lang, and Virginia Wallace.
Dick is survived by his wife Patt of 66 years, son Donald (Kimberly) Bauer, daughter JoAnn Bauer and Elaine Mueller, grandson Jason (Carrie) Bauer and five great step-grandchildren, all of Prineville. Dick is also survived by his beloved cousins, Ray Bauer, Ed Bauer, Jim Bauer, Juanita Bauer, Eldon Spady and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thanks to everyone from the Prineville Hospice for taking such good care of Dick and the Prineville Band of Brothers. Their help and kindness help us all during this difficult time.
