Timothy Lee Richardson was born on January 25, 1945, to Rachel Louise (Petrie) and Theodore Jack Richardson, whose union was short-lived. Noah Elezer Egland married Rachel18 months later, and was a much-loved step-father to Tim.
Tim graduated from Bethel High School (Tacoma, WA) in 1963, and served in the U.S. Air Force from August 1964 to August 1968, including a tour in Vietnam as a support technician for Forward and Close Air Support communications, working with the 1st Air Cavalry in the Central Highlands. He returned to Vietnam from December 1968 to 1973 as a civilian defense department contractor, primarily with SeaLand Service, Inc.
Upon returning to the U.S. in 1973, Tim completed his electronic engineering training begun while in the Air Force, and began a career designing communication surveillance systems and high-tech image processing equipment in Central California’s “silicon valley.” On May 13, 1979, Tim married Paula Gayle Richardson, with whom he spent the rest of his life, and they were blessed with a son, David Paul Richardson, on April 29, 1980.
In 1992, Tim initiated a complete lifestyle change, moved the family to Western Oregon, and took up a study of the law. For the remainder of his life, he did legal research and consulting work for attorneys and some private parties, and participated in several US Federal Court appeals involving high-profile political prisoners.
While living in Antelope, OR from August of 2011 until shortly before his death, Tim was very active in his community, serving variously as Assistant Fire Chief, Assistant Watermaster, Councilperson, and City Recorder. He was instrumental in helping procure the grants which are making it possible to upgrade the City of Antelope’s deteriorating water system.
Tim died in Madras, OR on December 20, 2018, at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by both his mother and father, Rae and Noah Egland.
