Alvyne Leonard Obituary

Alvyne Rosalind Leonard, 93, of Prineville Oregon, passed away on May 6,2023.  She was born on January 22 , 1930, in Estacada, Oregon, the daughter of Alvin Francis and Rosebud Ann (Brown) Benson.

Alvyne graduated from Union High School, class of 1948,  in Burns, Oregon.  Soon after graduation she moved to Portland and began working at Portland State University.  One of the many stories she told of her time there would be when she worked on weekly payroll packets that were paid in $2.00 bills.

Alvyne moved to Central Oregon in 1952, to be close to family and made Prineville her beloved, permanent home.  She made a career working in the offices of Prineville Machine and Hudspeth Lumber Company, while also working at the Pioneer Club on weekends.

Alvyne took the knowledge she had and started her own bookkeeping and tax consulting business, which she had going until approximately 10 years ago.  In her free time, she was always puttering around in her garden, growing vegetables, herbs and of course garlic.

During her entire life, Alvyne never met anyone that she didn't turn into a close friend.  At one time, she could probably call everyone in Prineville by name.

In addition to her parents, Alvyne was predeceased by her husband, E. Stanton Leonard, a sister, Ruth Naomi (Benson) Eldridge, a step brother, Edward Winn,  a son Eric Bernard Grunstad, and a daughter, Dona Janine (Grunstad)Casey.

Surviving is her daughter, Teri Lee (Pound) Marsh and her husband James, step daughter Linda (Leonard)Adee and her companion Ron Grant, grandchildren Stephanie Jo(Bryson) Davis, Desiree Lee (Dean) Miller, Jason Smoldt, Sarah Michelle (Dean) Smith, Erica (Grunstad)Rondeau, Eli Grunstad and Justin Grunstad.  Nieces, RuthEllen (Nelson) Gore and Linda (Eldridge) Brown and  nephew Alvin Eldridge and sister in law Barbara "Bo" (Dake)Van Osten, a large number of great grandchildren grand nieces and nephews plus 2 great great grandchildren, soon to be born.
