It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Santos, who left us peacefully on November 1, 2024 at the age of 81. Born in Kailua, Koolaupoko, Oahu on March 31, 1943, Barbara was the cherished daughter of Joseph and Virginia Santos. Barbara was a resident of Prineville, Oregon.
Barbara was a devoted mother to her son Ronald Das II and daughter-in-law Anita Acosta of Oregon, son Darryl Wilson and daughter-in-law Jennifer Wilson of Oregon, and son John M. Santos of Texas. Her love for her family extended beyond her immediate household; she was a proud grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and a great-grandmother to two great-grand-children.
A woman of simple pleasures, Barbara found joy in watching talk shows, which provided her entertainment. She had a passion for thrift shopping, often returning home with unique treasures that sparked joy not only for herself but also for those around her. She loved sewing, handicraft, writing poems, drawing, and gardening. One of her most endearing hobbies was collecting dolls; each doll held a special place in her heart and reflected her vibrant personality.
Professionally, Barbara made a significant impact as a customer service representative at Dillard’s. Beyond her professional life, she also opened her heart as a past foster parent, providing care and support to a child in need.
Barbara was an active member of United Puerto Rican Association of Hawaii during her time there. This involvement reflected her dedication to cultural heritage.
Barbara’s warm spirit and infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.
Remembrances can be made in Barbara’s name to your favorite charity.

Rest in peace, dear Barbara. You will forever remain in our hearts.
