Becky Ann Schroeder was born in The Dalles, Oregon on May 23, 1947, to Harlan
and Arlene Schroeder. Becky was raised in the small logging community of Kinzua,
Oregon. Becky attended Kinzua Grade School and Wheeler High School, where she
graduated in 1965.
After high school, Becky attended the Central Oregon Community College in Bend,
Oregon. After College Becky moved back to Fossil, where she worked for the
District Attorney’s Office.
On September 9, 1967, Becky married David Ostrander. Together they had two
children, Bryan and Craig Ostrander. When the Kinzua Mill closed the family
moved to Prineville, Oregon.
Becky’s most important task was providing for Bryan and Craig. Becky taught the
boys the value of love, compassion, humility, respect and grace. Becky by her
actions demonstrated hard work and dedication. Becky supported her boys in
every aspect of growing up. Football, basketball, baseball, 4-H it didn’t matter
what it was Becky was always there to support the boys. Not only her own boys
but the entire community. She was a backup mother to countless friends of the
boys and treated them as such.
Above all this, nothing compares to the joy and love her 4 grandchildren, and 3
great grandchildren brought her. Becky was the best Grameye and later GG ever.
She loved spending time with the kids and being an active part in their lives as well.
She followed Ashlie and Lexie to their sporting events and would often travel all
over the Pacific Northwest to show support. In addition, she would never miss the
Crook County Fair or Oregon State Fair to watch Cade and Carson show pigs.
Becky had a love for the Oregon Ducks, and religiously watched Football,
Basketball and Softball games. Becky hated to fly but she was able to travel
abroad on a trip to China with her very good friend Mary Hanes. Becky was
intrigued by the difference in culture and the rich history.
Becky was strong willed, determined, always in charge and did things her way.
Becky was a Christian and believed Jesus died on the cross for our sins, to give us
everlasting life. Some of her favorite hymns were, How Great Thou Art, Amazing
Grace and Old Rugged Cross. We are deeply saddened by Becky’s death. We are
all better people because of our own relationship with Becky and how she touched
each one of our lives.
Becky was a loving daughter, mother, Grameye, GG, sister, aunt, and a friend to all.
Becky has impacted us all and we will get through this together. We will love,
grieve and heal together.
Becky will be remembered by her sons Bryan Ostrander, Craig (Angela) Ostrander,
grandchildren Ashlie, Lexie, Cade, and Carson, great-grandchildren Raeleigh, Creed,
and Kaystyn, Becky’s sisters Sally Schroeder and Connie Alexander, and numerous
nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents Harlan and Arlene Schroeder.
While gone from earth, Becky will live forever in our hearts and in heaven.
