Candace Guidinger Obituary

Candace Porter Perry Guidinger, “C.C.”, age 73, passed away on March 27, 2020 in Mitchell, Oregon. At this time, no service or memorial will be held, but the family will set a date later this year.

Candace was born on July 10, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Nathaniel and Esther Perry. She graduated from South Salem High School in Salem, Oregon on 1964 and attended Lane Community College on a Quill and Scroll Scholarship.  She married Steve Guidinger in June of 1964.   They later divorced, but remained friends throughout her life.

Candace was a talented musician in that she wrote songs, played the piano and electric keyboard, and then recorded the songs.   She had two famous musical partners in Eddie Stovall of The Platters and Mitch Keirsey of the Texas Tenors.  They recorded many beautiful, heartfelt songs over the past 16 years in Branson, Missouri.   Throughout her life, Candace was an interior designer, antique dealer and collector of beautiful items, gallery owner, and dance instructor.

Candace was a brilliant and talented writer and was currently working on a transcription of her own grandmother’s journey to Europe in 1929.   She was also working on a celebration for “Keep Oregon Green” as her grandfather, John B. Woods, was one of the originators of that slogan and campaign.   She had recently written a song and music to honor him and had hoped to have a family celebration this year.

Candace is survived by her two daughters, Gia Jensen and Tiffany Beuthel (David) and her grandson, Dane Beuthel.   She is also survived by her brother, Nathaniel Perry, of Shaktoolik, Alaska, and her two sisters, Martha Iverson (Gordon) of Bend, Oregon, and Josephine Newport (formerly of Sisters, Oregon) of Randolph, Vermont, 16 nieces and nephews and 29 grand nieces and nephews.  She has one surviving aunt, Gail Woods, of Ft. Collins, Colorado, along with numerous cousins throughout the U.S. and Taiwan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, John Stephen Perry and Jason Perry.
