Donald Archie Talbot, 81 years and 358 days, of Prineville passed away on August 26, 2021. There will be a graveside service held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Juniper Haven Cemetery (1555 N Main Street - Prineville) at 2:00 PM. Bishop Adam Stefanek will be officiating. Don was born in Panguitch, Utah to Archie W. and Freda Fauntell (Gilger) Talbot on September 2, 1939. Don attended Panguitch High School. He graduated in 1957 and then entered into the US Navy in 1958 and served honorably for 4 years.
Don met the love of his life and wife for 58 years, Jeanie Stapel in Panguitch, Utah in November 1962, they then married on July 5, 1963, where they settled in Kanab, Utah. Donald and Jeanie moved to Lakeview, Oregon in 1966 where they settled for 6 years and then moved to Prineville, Oregon in 1972 and lived for 49 years where they raised their two daughters, Templyn born in Panguitch, Utah in 1965 and Torri born in Lakeview, Oregon in 1967.
Donald was an avid fly fisherman. He loved camping with his family and going to the woods to gather firewood for winter. One of his joys was to put on plays with his grandchildren in the fall and spoiling his grandchildren with the best breakfast in town cooked in his own kitchen.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints his whole life. He served in many different callings within his church and he truly loved the Lord.
Don was a dedicated worker. He began working at an early age to help provide for his brothers and sisters. As the oldest of 8 he took on the provider role that carried on throughout his life to his own family. He was the only man in the world that could take a two week vacation in 4 days because he always wanted to get home to return to work. He loved to go home to Utah for every vacation where he could spend time with his brothers and sisters.
Donald worked in the lumber industry for Dame Molding in Lakeview and retired from Clear Pine Molding in Prineville where he worked for close to 40 years.
He is survive by his wife of 58 years, Jeanie Talbot, Daughters; Templyn Davie (Frank), Torri Steele (Jeff), Grandchildren; Aaron Richard Davie, Jamie Lee Bowman, Travis James Bowman, Taylor Nicole Davie, 4 Great Grandchildren and Annie (Punkie) Shelk and his beloved dog Lucy. His brothers; Douglas and Lanny Talbot, Sisters; Opal Reynalds, Arda Cox and Meladean Carter. Sister in law Leslie Talbot and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Sisters; Loretta Linford and Marna Fauntell Talbot and Brother William (Bill) Talbot and Brother in law Al Cripe.
MOSIAH CHAPTER 2 VERSE 17: And Behold, I tell you these things that you may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.
To all of those who served Donald and Jeanie in the past 13 months, Thank You. There are too many to name. He truly was humbled by his community and the love they showed in his time of need. You served him well.
