He was born in Sacramento, California on June 4, 1960 to parents Dean E. Barney and Mary Ellen Hodges. He graduated with his diploma from Crook County High School class of 1978, and lived the majority of his life in Prineville. Eric was an avid fan of motor sports, he loved watching football and spending time with the people around him. He was kind hearted, and loved to smile and joke around. His conversation and friendly banter will be missed greatly. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ellen, older brother, Drew, son, Eric Dillon, two granddaughters, Penelope and Calliope, and beloved cat, Meow.
