Gloria Collier passed away January 20, 2025 at Partners In Care Hospice House in Bend Oregon surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Caney, Kansas to Preston and Irene Hicks on April 4, 1934. Gloria had spent her last 3 years as a resident of Aspen Ridge Retirement Community in Bend Oregon after the passing of her beloved husband Jack Collier in 2021. Prior to that she had been a resident in Prineville Oregon for 34 years. She served as a Pastor’s wife along side her husband for close to 50 years. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church Prineville for 25 years and then was instrumental in helping Jack organize Grace Baptist Church Prineville. She served as pianist and organist at both churches. After Jack’s retirement, they both found a calling to serve as members at Mitchell Baptist Church Mitchell Oregon. She and Jack continued their ministry by driving every Sunday over 100 miles round trip for almost 8 years. Gloria’s love of music was carried where ever they served the Lord. Prior to her passing, she played piano for the residents at Aspen Ridge every Sunday for their services.
Gloria learned to play the piano at an early age by ear. She loved nothing more than having family gather around the piano to sing good old gospel songs and hymns. You could give her a few notes of a song and because she played by ear, she could play it.
She had a passion for cooking for friends and family. No one could cook a roast like “Mamaw”. Some of her meals were so good they brought tears to the guest’s eyes. She shared her cooking passion with her children and grandchildren.
Gloria loved the Lord, her family and gospel music in that order. She never hesitated to share her love of these with anyone she met. She hosted many missionaries, pastors and preachers in the 59 years of her and Jack’s ministry. She always thought it was her duty as a Pastor’s wife but it was in fact a blessing.
Gloria is survived by her 6 six children, son Lonnie Collier (Kaye) of Glen Rose Tx, daughter Lana Hirschfield of Hot Springs, AR, son Paul Collier (Claudia) of Mason City IA, daughter Tammy Barclay (Brian) of Bend Oregon, son Mark Collier of Prineville Or, son Jeff (Frances) of Prineville Or.
Thirteen grandchildren. Crystal, Myra, Chris, Sara, Paul Andrew, Kyle, Kasey, Meredith, Devin, Mac, Leslie, Ashton and Kortney.
Sixteen great grandchildren. Tyson, Tristan, Kennedy, Zade, Gracie, Malachite, Ila, Benson, Aspen, Kylian,
Evan, Ivy, Jensen, Jentry, Blake and Lane.
Two great-great grandchildren, Vaden and Birkley.
