Jack Allen Apperson (1937-2022) of Prineville, passed peacefully in his home on February 5, surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born and raised in Prineville, alongside his five sisters and eleven brothers who were very close through the years.
The Apperson family has a long history of military service; nine of the eleven boys served in Korea or Vietnam. All nine of them made it home. Jack left home in 1955 for a seventeen-year career with the Navy, including three tours in Vietnam. He earned several medals and other accolades as an instructor in the Construction Battalion.
Jack continued his construction career when he returned, building homes all over the Pacific Northwest alongside his brother, Pete. Later joined by his youngest sons, Jack and Shorty, Jack diligently instilled in them the solid work ethic, skills, and self-discipline he learned during his time in the Navy.
Jack lived a long, adventure-filled life, raising kids, working, hunting, fishing, and enjoying his loved ones.
Jack is survived by his four remaining brothers, Pete, Jeff, Pat, and Butch. His remaining children, Robby, Patty, Joe, Ralph (Shorty), and Jack, as well as his many adoring grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends who became family. He will be dearly missed.
