Joan Arlene (Eggison) Wendt

Joan Arlene Wendt (Eggison), 82, of Prineville, Oregon (formerly Baker City, Oregon) passed away peacefully in her sleep at her residence at Country Side LIving in Redmond, Oregon, on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
Joan was born in Portland, Oregon the oldest of 3 children to Bill and Helen Eggison.  She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1957. Joan loved to arrange flowers and owned a flower shop with her mother Helen called "Helen's Flowers" in Portland.  In 1970 she married Jack Wendt and they moved to Baker City, Oregon in 1975 with her two children Ron and Julie. There she owned and operated "Wendt's Floral Designs" where she was loved by the whole town for her beautiful floral arrangements. Eventually, she sold the flower shop and went on to work at "Pioneer Bank" in Baker City, Oregon. When her husband Jack passed away in 2006 she retired soon after and moved to Prineville, Oregon, closer to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.
Joan loved living in Prineville and enjoyed helping take care of her grandkids, Aubrey and Wyatt. She would be cheering them on at a soccer game, watching them show their animals in 4H, and be Aubrey's biggest fan at her horse shows. When Powell Butte Charter School needed help in the cafeteria, she was right there serving desserts to all the kids. Everyone knew her as Nana, that's what she wanted to be called. She was a kind soul that made the world a brighter place and will be missed by all who knew her.
Joan is survived by her sister Penny Korbe, brother Mike Eggison, son Ron Fritz and wife Donna, daughter Julie and husband Francis DeRoest, and grandchildren Aubrey and Wyatt DeRoest.
Joan was cremated and a service will be held at a later date, final arrangements will be announced later.
