John Dee Halsey, 69, of Prineville passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022. There will be a Celebration of John's Life held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Ochoco Creek Park Covered Area (455 NE Juniper Street, across the river from the castle park), 1:00 PM will be the luncheon and 2:00 PM will be the memorial service. John was born on November 19, 1952 to Archie Leonard and Glennia Louise (Morris) Halsey in Prineville, Oregon. He grew up in Prineville, graduating from Crook County High in 1971. He went in the US Army serving his country from 1971 to 1977. He went on to work in Trucking, Rock Crushing, self employed motorcycle repair, millwright as he could repair almost anything.
John's hobbies included; motorcycle riding and activities, fabrication of parts for the repair of motorcycles, cars and trucks. He enjoyed researching the history and manufacturing of motorcycles and vehicles.
He was a wonderful, accepting and gentle man. He opened his home as a heaven to many lost souls, those needing a non-judgmental friend and mentor. He was a loyal friend and family member, loving, quiet, accepting and helpful.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Archie Bernard, brother in laws Andy Bernard and Robert Bernard, nephew Jeff Halsey and one great nephew Bradley Foster, and precious pets.
John is survived by his brother Ronald Halsey, sisters; Colleen (John) Ferguson and MaryLou Bernard, nieces; Margaret (Chuck) Bernard-Hedges, Debbie Halsey, Elizabeth (John) Strand, and nephews; Mike (Sherry) Bernard, Lee (Sandy) Bernard and Mark (Kat) Ferguson, former wife Kathleen; step-children Luke Platz and sisters; Rita, Juanita and Annie, numerous great nieces and great nephews, and many, many dear friends.
