Karyl Kaye Severson

Karyl was born on May 1, 1948 to Lyle Charles and Grace Ellen (Dick) Severson in Vancouver, Washington.  She attended school in Portland,Oregon graduating from Washington High School in June of 1966.  She went on to get her B.A. in 1971 and her M.A. in 1974 at Portland State University where she studied English and writing.

She worked as a Technical Writer for 18 years in the United States, the Netherlands, Ireland and Sweden.  After returning to the United States, Karyl was an instructor at COCC and OSU Cascades, teaching technical writing for six years.

Karyl was an artistic woman with a huge heart, fine brain and a delightful sense of humor.  She was a singer and a musician and wrote poetry.  She was a bright light and loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her sister Margaret Severson.

Karyl is survived by her brother; Karl (Linda) Severson, five nieces and nephews.
