Leona Lucille Joyner Macy, 91, was born November 10, 1930, in Oilton Oklahoma and went home to be with Jesus August 11, 2022, in Prineville Oregon.
She passed away peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's, with her husband by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters, her first husband, 1 grandson, 2 step grandsons, numerous nieces and nephews, and 2 sons in law.
Leona is survived by her husband Don, of 51 years, 5 daughters, 2 stepdaughters, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 sons-in-law.
Leona served our Heavenly father for most of her life. She taught her daughters and grandchildren about Jesus, as well as many others. She was a Sunday School Teacher at Redmond Assembly of God for several years
She enjoyed singing along with her husband while he played guitar and even with her memory loss, she never forgot the words. After moving to Ashley Manor, Don and Lee enjoyed playing music and singing with the residents there. The residents enjoyed it as much as Don and Lee. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Ashley Manor and Bristol Hospice for taking care of their mom and beloved wife of Don during her final days. Thank you for your committed care and the kindness you showed her. Also, thank you for the compassion, sensitivity, and emotional support you showed our entire family. We’ll be forever grateful.
Leona's Celebration of Life Service will be at the Powell Butte Community center on September 17, 2022 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Whispering Pines is honored to be serving this family. 541-416-9733
