Linda Lee (Gartner) Meredith

          Linda L. Meredith died from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease September 12, 2021 with her husband, Ron at her side.  Linda was born May 28, 1949 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Adam and Lena Gartner.  She was raised in Glen Ullin, North Dakota graduating from high school there in 1967.  She graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo in 1971 with a degree in psychology.

          In 1971 Linda met Ron Meredith at a JV football game in Terry, Montana.  A long-distance romance ensued between Bismarck and Missoula.  They were married in Missoula in 1972 where Ron was in graduate school.  Linda and Ron lived in Malta, MT for 3 years where she worked as a teacher’s aide, had a son, Russell, then moved to Baker, MT for 30 years where they made many friends and participated in many community activities through local organizations and jobs.

          Linda worked for a time as waitress at a steakhouse and as a social worker for a three-county area before taking a job at Fallon Medical Complex.  There she rose to the position of Personnel Manager and Executive Secretary to the CEO and Hospital Board before retiring and moving to Oregon to be closer to Russell and her granddaughter, Madison.

          After moving to Oregon, Linda and Ron decided to join the Elks and before too long she was tabbed as the editor for the monthly newsletter.  She took great pride in producing an easy to read, yet informative publication that tried to showcase many different members and their activities.

          Linda loved flowers and her yard reflected that. She also loved her dogs especially the golden retrievers.  The last several years, she, Ron, and T-Bone walked the paths at the Wetlands nearly every day.

          Linda was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by husband Ron, son Russ (Robin), granddaughter, Madi, grandsons Roan and Rex, daughter, Kathey Llewellyn of Minneapolis, 3 granddaughters along with 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Jackie Dassinger (Steve Radu) of Billings and Noreen Lefor (Myron) of Aberdeen, SD, and brothers Jerry Gartner of Coon Rapids, MN and Rick Gartner (Carla) of Fargo, ND.

          All memorial donations will be given to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or Fallon Medical Complex Foundation.  Cremation has already taken place and no service will be held.  An online memorial will be available for friends and relatives to observe.
