Patricia “Patty” Arlene McGuire passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday July 19th at the age of 74.
Patty was born in Prineville, Oregon to James and Helen (Barnes) Grover. She grew up in Prineville along with her brothers Mike and Jerry, graduating from Crook County High School in 1968. In June of 1968, she married Edward McGuire in Prineville. Together they raised two daughters, Jeri and Juliane. Patty was an amazing homemaker, she loved to cook, knit, fish, ride motorcycles, go camping and support the girls in all their school activities.
In May of 1985 Patty was in an auto accident and was left paralyzed at the age of 35. Patty showed amazing courage and strength for the reminder of her life. She continued to work at Clear Pine/Contact Lumber with tremendous support by the company. She lived life to the fullest, and loved camping, going on boat rides, riding roller coasters and water rides in Disneyland. She loved the Oregon Coast, going to Indian Head Casino and mimosas with her best friend of over 50 years, Linda Mills. Linda continued to stay by Patty’s side until her passing.
Patty was blessed with three grandchildren, Bryce, Arika and Brittnee. All three spent countless hours riding on grandma’s wheelchair, learning to cook and riding in her van. You could always find her at one of Bryce’s baseball games or one of the many dance recitals and competitions for Arika and Brittnee. She loved the many nieces and nephews who she loved to hold in her arms, riding on her lap in her wheelchair. Memories these young people will cherish always.
Her greatest gifts in life arrived with the births of her six great-grandchildren whom she adored. Ruby, Jaidyn, Andi, Reed, Brooks and Kali were everything to her.
Patty’s impact to all who knew her is significant in the way she lived her life. Full of joy, humor, gratitude for each day and tremendous courage in the face of adversity. Her daughter Jeri remained by her side for it all as not only her daughter but her loving caregiver, her confidant and lifetime friend.
She is survived by her daughters & son in laws, Jeri & Zach Garner, and Juliane & Jim Reed.
