Roxann Stringer Obituary

Roxann Renée Stringer Roxann Stringer of Prineville passed away on Saturday, April 23. She was born on December 1, 1960, in Portland, Oregon, the third child of Juanita Swett Stringer and Marlin C. Stringer. She attended Gilbert Elementary and Floyd Light Middle Schools, graduating in 1979 from David Douglas High School. In 1985 she graduated from Portland Community College with an Associates Degree in Commercial Food Preparation. She worked in the restaurant industry for most of her adult life, but also for a few years as an in-home care provider. She moved to Prineville in 1991. She worked at Dairy Queen and became active in the American Legion Auxiliary. She served as the Chaplain for several years; two of her Prayer Books were awarded First Place in the state competition and received Honorable Mention at the national level. Roxann also volunteered with the Oregon Red Cross. She was a fixture for many years at the community blood drives and received recognition at the state and national levels for her hours of volunteer work. She was a member of Bennett Chapel Methodist Church in Portland; Powell Butte Christian Church; and most recently, Ascent Christian Church in Prineville. She was known for her kindness and her sense of humor, as well as her work ethic and dependability. She especially loved children and animals, and they loved her. She loved being with her family; the Oregon coast was her favorite place to spend time. Roxann is survived by her sister, Lexie Stringer Tombleson and brother-in-law, John Tombleson of Prineville; brother Sid C. Stringer of Prineville; niece Alita Batham and husband Frank Batham of Scio, Oregon; Nephew Adam Tombleson and wife Rebecca Tombleson of Modesto, California; niece Alexus Basham of Prineville; three grandnieces and two grandnephews; friend Bill McKee of Prineville. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 27th at 10 am at Ascent Christian Church, 185 4th Street. The American Legion Auxiliary will host a reception afterward at the Veterans’ Club on 4th and Main Streets. A private interment will take place later at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Scio, Oregon. Ascent Christian Church, assisted by Whispering Pines Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements. Donations may be made in her memory to Ascent Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary in Prineville, or the Oregon Red Cross.
