Roy Phillips Obituary

Roy Andrew Phillips, age 76, of Prineville, went home to be with his savior Jesus Christ on July 26, 2020. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. To light a candle for Roy or to leave an online condolence for the family, please go to:  www.whisperingpinesfuneralhome.com

Roy was born in Abilene, Texas on February 9, 1944 to Andrew Jackson and Allie Lorene (Goff) Phillips. His father's work took the family from Texas to Arizona where Roy spent most of his youth. From there he moved to Oregon where he met Anita Hellman. On August 5, 1964 in Sandy, Oregon they were married by Judge Hawiller (who was blind).

In his younger years Roy enjoyed hunting and catfishing with his family and friends. As he aged, he enjoyed walking into town for exercise until he was no longer physically able. Roy was a member of the Bible Way church and enjoyed attending it regularly when his health permitted.  He never met a stranger or anyone he didn't share the Lord with. He enjoyed visiting with people and sharing stories from his past. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes and an occasional trip to the casino and He never passed up a serving of his favorite meal biscuits and gravy.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Anita Phillips. Their children Tim (Colleen) Phillips of Helena, Montana,  Anita (Mark) Rhoden and Matthew Phillips of Prineville Oregon. Grandchildren Nathan (Carlie )Phillips of Helena, Montana, Chelsy  (Robbie) Radakovich of Helena, Montana, Riley Roberts of Captain Cook, Hawaii and Raynee Roberts of Portland, Oregon.  Great-granddaughters, Keeley and Hallie Radakovich  of Helena, Montana,  by his sister, Reba Wick of Recklaw, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Jackson and Allie Lorene Phillips; brothers Jackie Evans and Carl Edwards Phillips, his sisters and their spouses, Helen (Carl) Hammon, Joyce (DK) Price, Patsy (Ralph) Fabian and brother-in-law Robert Wick and his best friend Rascal.
