Lynne Straughan, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, stepmother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Born on July 26, 1959, to Evelyn (Gould) and Wayne Duncan, Lynne grew up with a spirited love for life.
A graduate of Gresham High School, Class of 1977, Lynne was an accomplished gymnast and a proud majorette. She was also a dedicated member of the Kelly Cadets Baton Group from the mid-1960s into the early 1970s, showcasing her passion and discipline from a young age.
On March 22, 1997, Lynne married Jim Straughan. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, hard work, and companionship. For the past couple of decades, she became widely known as "Ms. Dawghouse," managing the daily operations of the restaurant she and Jim owned in Prineville. Her quick wit, no-nonsense attitude, and warm presence made her a beloved fixture in the community and among her patrons.
Lynne is survived by her husband, Jim Straughan of Prineville; her father, Wayne Duncan of Hines; and her sisters, Connie (Dale) Budke of Kentucky and Debbie (Andy) Florence of Virginia. She also leaves behind her stepchildren, Angela (Steven) Boothroyd, Todd (Megan) Straughan, and Eric (Randi) Straughan, all of Redmond. As well as three nephews and a niece: Joe (Sara) Budke, Brent Budke, Chris Rusche, and Stephanie (Brandon) Niesent.
One of her greatest joys in life was her grandchildren: Sumner (Kayla) Saulsbury and their daughter Atley; Parker Straughan, Rylie Straughan, Charlie Straughan, and John Straughan. Lynne treasured every moment spent with them, leaving behind memories of love and laughter that will forever be in their hearts.
Lynne’s unwavering spirit, sharp humor, and love for her family and friends will be deeply missed. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Lynne was proceeded in death by her Mother, Evelyn (Gould) Duncan in 2016.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 13th, 12-3pm, Prineville Elks Lodge. All are welcome
