With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Thomas Bert Ford, who departed this world on November 9, 2023, in Powell Butte, OR. He was 90 years old.
Born on August 9, 1933, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Thomas was the beloved son of Laura De Herrera. He attended Denver East High School before continuing his education at Colorado University. Later, he pursued specialized computer training in system design at Emily Griffith.
Thomas proudly served in the United States Army for eight years, demonstrating unwavering dedication and commitment to his country. His service shaped his strong sense of discipline, resilience, and leadership, qualities that carried through to the rest of his life.
After his military service, Thomas built a successful career as a Computer Systems Analyst, working for the State of Colorado for 25 years. His expertise and dedication contributed to the development and efficiency of state systems, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers. He retired in 1993, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and innovation.
Beyond his professional life, Thomas found great joy in the outdoors, spending time fishing, skiing, and hiking in the Colorado mountains. He had a deep love for meeting new people, dancing, and traveling, embracing every opportunity to connect with others and experience the world.
Thomas was a man whose life radiated kindness, strength, and unwavering optimism. He taught his family the true meaning of unconditional love—not through words alone, but through a lifetime of quiet sacrifice, steadfast presence, and heartfelt encouragement. His legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and the quiet power of choosing love in all circumstances. He will be remembered for the deep and enduring impact he had on his family, friends, and community. His light continues to shine in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
