Vernon Mathew Thompson

Vernon M. Thompson, 63, of Prineville passed away on Monday July 18, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by people he loved.  There will be a private family gathering at a later date.

Vernon was born on January 23, 1953 in Prineville to Vernon and Helen (Hartwig) Thompson.  He attended Crook County High School.  In 1972 he married Irene Scharick and together they had two sons, Joseph and Justin.  He was proud of his service to our country in both the US Air Force and US Army National Guard.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and his motorcycle.  His grandkids were his pride and joy.  He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

He is survived by his wife Irene, sons; Joe (Julie) Thompson and Justin (Renee) Thompson, five grandchildren; Emily, McKenzie, Hunter, Gabe and Garrett, two sisters, one brother, multiple nieces and nephews.
